YouTube has grown to be one of the largest collections of educational material available on the web. Videos can be utilized to spark a discussion, demonstrate an activity, review foundational materials, or highlight current events.
- From within a Blackboard Content Area, select the YouTube Video option from the Mashups section of the Build Content Menu
- Enter a search term, and then select the Go button
- The list of results will include a brief description of the video and a run time. Press the Select button to select a specific YouTube video.
- Optional—Enter a description for the video
- In the Mashup Options section, the pull-down menu will allow you to specify how the video is displayed—as a Thumbnail, Link, or Embedded Player. Select Submit at the bottom of the page to continue.
- An embedded Video will allow the students to view the video directly within Blackboard
If you would like to use a specific video on YouTube:
- Select the Share this Video link at the bottom of the video on YouTube and copy the Video ID portion of the link (YeutC1WN6dc)
- Within the YouTube Mashup Tool, paste the Video ID in the search field and select Go
- Your video will be displayed at the top of the search results
